Can a gold coin keep you warm this winter?

Sorry , I know it's OT but I couldn't resist! My father-in-law collects and restores old parlor stoves and when he told me a friend of his had a couple "gold coin" stoves I had to see them. I got the pictures today. What do you think? I thought how cool would it be IF they had cast bigger replicas of a libery head gold piece and used it as ornamentation on it as well. Pretty cool nevertheless.

<< <i>Nice gold coin. What year is that? >>
I don't know the exact date but my guess from hanging around a "stove man" is 1880's.
<< <i>I'd buy it. >>
Some of these old parlor stoves, especially the more ornate ones get real pricey!
<< <i>Needs converted into a coin cabinet. >>
That's an interesting thought. No one could walk off with it, that's for sure. They weigh a ton!

That woulda been neat.
But then they'd have had scenarios like,
"Dangit, Pa, we're outta flour and sugar again. Come break this ornament offa the stove and take it down to the store and get me some..."

I have a feeling that it would have been a maid or butler that would have been doing that. I imagine only the upper crustys had stoves like this in thier parlors.
my dad loved stuff like that !

Hey! Who broke the ornaments off the stove?
The butler did it.
(Speaking of which, there is a fair chance I will BE a butler after January 3rd. I just had a job interview.)
