In your opinion, what holds the grade back on the Prussian Coronation thaler?

This would be of interest for me also. The coin looks pretty good from the picture.

Some nice stuff there, Preussen. image

I still can't believe for what prices some of coins went last week!

Hi: Like I said in my auction description, I am baffled by NGC's MS-62 grade determination on the Coronation Thaler. I grade quite conservatively, and I called the coin a solid MS-63, with 64 potential. It's nicely toned with underlying luster, and to my eye it's quite nice. It has some minor marks, but nothing that I would associate with a (usually scruffy) MS-62 coin. I am confident in the quality of the coin, and I have a no questions asked refund policy.

I agree that a couple of last week's coins brought more than expected (especially the 1913 2M image) but I expected the Thalers to go a bit higher. Selling on ebay has been extremely unpredictable in my experience, which is why I (reluctantly) placed modest reserves on some of the coins I listed yesterday. Thanks. - Preussen
