Without seeing the back it's hard to give an exact identification, but at first glance it appears French, 18th century.

    I'm guessing a 12 Deniers dated 1791 Paris Mint.

Two Louie's after the "Sun King" image "who BTW, sent his niece Marie Louise to Carlos II the MAD & Impotent King of Spain" but that is not important here. It's Louie the XVI on you coin (I believe)

It is a Paris Mint coin, note the "A" mintmark.

He looked in a Krause and guessed at the date, they were only minted for 3 or four years I believe.

As he said, he looked in Krause. The give away is that the 12 deniers is the only denomination of that time and design that did not have the date on the obverse.

thanks guys. sorry if i've been misunderstood, was looking for the market value if i were to sell it. not the actual value of the coin itself, but i do appreciate that info in addition.

    cheers

I don't have an 18th century Krause volume handy at the moment (I'm at work), but there is one in my locker.

If nobody else posts some Krause values for you tonight, I'll pull mine out of the locker and look it up for you.
