Regarding Wax Trays:
1-When did they stop making them
2-Where they in shorter circulation than wax boxes, cellos, rack packs??
3-Buyers of wax trays buy w/ intent of NOT opening and preserving?
Every description of wax trays generally includes the words "rare or very rare", so I wondering the above.
Thanks.

Hello again! With regards to trays, the last year for them was 1980. They're collected for their scarcity, eye appeal, and rarely opened. Any tray 1977 and older are extreme rarities and only increase in value. 1978-1980 trays are fairly common and sell in the $25-$50 range except for the 1979-80 Topps Hockey which retail for $250 easily. We at GAI authenticate and grade all years of trays, no matter the quantity of packs inside. The oldest Baseball tray we've ever had was from 1967 and it contained (6) 5-cent packs! When pack prices increased to 10-cents in 1970, the trays only contained (3) packs and these types are seen today. The oldest Football tray we've ever had was from 1957, but it contained only three packs. It was simply amazing! Then in 1963, they went to (6) pack trays! I believe that Topps made trays EVERY year from the mid-1950's but they're just too scarce to find!
