2001 Bowman Chrome Pujols Auto Auction Scam??

Is this a scam auction by mnmliquidators? location germantown ohio

Ended auction won by bgsbrad with same serial# 106/500. Bgsbrad location is florida. Seller investincards is from new york.

New seller mnmliquidator states in auction:

"I wouldn´t sell this card but I need money as early as possible due to some family problems and I´d gladly accept offers over 4900 USD, basically it´s a superb price and below to listing price, and this money will be very helpfull to me, so, my loss is your gain, send me your messages only through this email catreta1972@earthlink.net"

offers over $4900???

bgsbrad bought is for $8400!!

unless these guys are shill bidding

Also card serial# 106 looks like it has been tampered (probably one of those 005 serial#s).

beckett report states graded July 31, 2005

  • Looks pretty dodgy to me. I'd say hijacked account is real likely here. Only one transaction since January and that involved the sale of a welder. Prior feedback mentions mufflers, auto parts etc, nothing that I see re: cards of any kind, but he all of a sudden stumbles across a BGS 9.5 pujols auto RC laying around the garage?!? Possible but highly unlikely especially given the request to ONLY communicate at the one email addy and the old "family problems...need money fast" line. Plus, the ID was changed 7/20/05 after almost 6 months of no activity from jtrpartsstore to mnmliquidators and the "ME" page appears to have been deleted. For one of the most popular and valuable cards in the last 10 years, no way I take a chance bidding on it from this joker....

Well the seller obviously copied the previous auction word for word.

I also think it's probably a hijacked account. The account was probably hijacked after the welder was sold. Any time I've sold an auction in the $1000 range, the scammer emails have poured in.

    Report this to ebay.

The second auction is obviously a scam, but I think we're missing the bigger issue. $8400 was apparaently paid for a 4 year old card scarcely different from a dozen others on the market, some of which are far more limited. That's just slightly less than the down payment I put on my house, and I'm just having a hard time processing that.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay

No evidence of being shilled up either that I can see, pretty damn crazy to me. I mean, Pujols is great and all, but the guy could tear his acl and mcl sliding into 3rd next week and never have another great season again... Thanks, but no thanks, I collect modern as well as vintage, but I'll take some 9's of Banks and Brooksie over that any day...

  • SCD reported this month that another BGS 9.5 recently sold for $7,877.00. It's just crazy! image Your best bet would be to contact bgsbrad and ask him if he still has the card. If he does, I'm sure he/she would be interested to know that someone is selling their card. image
