need help with this coin....

Im not a collector and dont know what I have here... I did some researchand it seems like its a Constatine Greek Coin?? I would appriciate an Honest answer to let me know what I have and what i might be worth... the worth Parts dosnt matter as much just to let me know what it is... what year it could be... how rare it could be or migh tnot be.. ect..

here are the pics... I researched many Constatine coins and most of them looked like this one but i never found one that had this cross on the back...

Thanks in advance.

It's a modern machine struck counterfeit. I see these in dealer's bargain boxes for 10-25 cents each (we have a few ourselves). It's supposed to be a Roman Imperial coin of Constantine I, but that type did not actually exist in antiquity.

  • Strange and interesting piece you got there. I can't tell you if it's genuine, but for an old copper coin the quality is remarkable. Judging by the style of the portrait it could be a late Roman coin (something like 3-400 a.d.), but the reverse of the coin is puzzling. How big is it?

In the late years of the Roman republic there were several emperors with a name that started with "Cons..." so we'll probably need someone with a Sear catalog at hand to work out exactly who it is. Roman experts... don't be shy image

  • the color and looks are differnt in real life. I just happen to have a good camera take some good pics and made them look as detailed as i could with Photoshop. the color of this coin looks more like a penny... maybe it is a counterfeit i dont know.... my wife found it somewhere .. the size.. its about the same size as a penny.. looks like some of it was cut off around the edges.. maybe that was a way for someone to make it look older. i do agree that the quality is probably better than what it would be if it were "real" now that i think about it. but again.. i dont know if its real or not.. leaning towards not real myself... Thanks for the input and any more info would be greatly appriciated.

    Thanks!

If Josh said it was fake, it's fake.

Would've fooled me at first glance, but on second glance the lettering would've sent up some red flags for me.

Well, you could always keep it as a pocket piece or maybe have it made into a ring, tie clip or similar item.
