Is this a joke?

I'm sorry, and I aplogize. I'm not usually one to point out bad ebay listings, but this just screamed "HEY EVERYBODY, LOOK AT ME!"

Just ran across it on accident. I'm not going to link to the auction, just the picture. No sellers names either, I'll save them the embarassement.

But, this card is described in their auction as "NM Near Mint condition! Corners are slightly faded but still sharp."

This is almost surreal.

If this was the only card in a collection, it WOULD have the sharpest corners around!

What would be even more surreal would be if someone bought it! If you find that out, LUK!

If the price starts out low, I guarantee you someone will buy it. I've listed cards in similar condition and have been surpised at how much they went for. I think some people figure that if they get a card for 15-20% of high beckett, they got a good deal, not realizing that they actually paid above high beckett when you adjust for condition.

The seller failed to mention that he has used the card for a coaster for the past 16 years !

Yeah, no creases NOW, because they cut'em off.

    Too funny.

I have had many similar experiences. In fact, for cards 52 and newer, I generally will not get them graded unless they will hit a 6 or above. Beckett people will pay more for raw. They simply do not understand grading and only look at high Beckett value as a guide to a good deal i.e. how much cheaper than high Beckett without. I will even state the condition in the auction description i.e. POOR condition. It will still get 10-20% of high beckett, which is more than if I had it slabbed as a 1.

WoW! Now may be the time for me to unload this not-so-mint '62T Maris!! It's been torn and glued, faded, written on, etc. etc. Just what the suc...ah...bargain hunters are looking for. If I list the starting price at $0.99 I may even get it!!

The seller of the Turkey Red listed the "no creases" as a joke, but truly accurate. He just got a good laugh out of it.
