Using JR's method, there may be more BGS 9.5's on the market, but they are still less than PSA 10.
Baseball on ebay 1980-2005. I chose this period since this is where BGS and PSA compete the most.
PSA 10 - 1925 BGS 9.5 - 1015
There are still almost double the number of PSA 10's than BGS 9.5's. Does that mean that BGS 9.5 is worth twice as much as PSA 10?
NO. It doesn't mean anything. Can't we all get along? Does it really mattter?
JR - Nothing personal, it's just that I use both services and IMHO, neither of them is better than the other. If I have a nice vintage card, it's going to PSA since that is the largest market. If I have a nice modern card, it goes to BGS since they draw more money. It really isn't any more complicated than that.
No, it's really not any more complicated than that. And I agree there is little difference between BGS 9.5 and PSA 10. But that's not what someone who paid $1500 for a $250 card wants to hear. They want to hear that BGS 9.5 is better, much better, and will continue to be considered so in the marketplace down the road.
I'm not comparing the volume of BGS 9.5's to PSA 10's or anything else -- only to past volume of BGS 9.5's. There is no denying that 9.5's are all over the place this year compared to the past, and those "near-impossible" 9.5's that went for 4 figures are now anything but impossible.
Do with that information what you will. I'm fine with being proven wrong by developments. Wouldn't be the first time. (When is Gregg Jefferies going to catch fire again, anyway? I'm getting tired of waiting.)

I'm not trying to be incindiary, JR, but this has been true for well over a year, and probably closer to two. There is still a difference when it comes to some 80's issues, but it's been a while since there was a disparity in the prices between PSA 10- BGS 9.5 in more recent issues.
I've been collecting graded cards since 1999. At that time any HOFer card (not just their rookies) in PSA 9 and 10 was considered a tough card. With realized prices being so high, everyone wanted to submit their cards to increase their value, which in turn increased the supply, and lowered the prices. Of course this applies to the majority of cards, but does not apply to ultra scarce cards that still maintain low POPs today. Now re-read this paragraph and apply it to BGS in the 2003-present timeframe.
I could make the same argument that 5-6 years ago, PSA 10s were non-existent, and now they are much more common. Over time, population reports can only do one thing naturally, and that is go up. So it only make sense that high grade cards would become more common over time. An increase in high grades does not mean there is a lowering of standards (nor does it rule it out for that matter, but my point is you can't conclude one from the other).
What about the people who paid $10K+ for a 63T Mantle PSA 9 or $3500 for a 86F Jordan PSA 9? Should they not feel "violated" as well?
I can easily see both sides in this argument. Perhaps jr is just a little angry that the BGS collectors act so piously about their 9.5's and snootily look down on the "lowly PSA 10's." I think, as a rule, PSA collectors don't have that arrogant mindset. How about those adverbs!!!
I know I find the arrogant BGS collectors highly annoying; does it serve them right that they'll never be able to recoup their $$? --- maybe . I'm a die-hard PSA fan, so I may be a little biased....
Boys, your grading and the perpretrators...ALL of them....are a joke and all about profit and beating the competition, not about the customer and adherence to a higher quality standard..
There isn't any standard...there isn't any controlling body....and you get just what you gotten...an evolving mess.
I guess we now have to know what grading company and what month/year the grade was given
Grades seem to be dependent on the circumstances of the moment and how long till the 10-K report is due...
I'LL STAY RAW and watch / listen to the debate and demise.
SOMEONE with some nads needs to step in and clean up the sport...that's just what it is now....let's just call it the GRADING STEROID ERA
ADVICE....Wise men don't need it and fools don't heed it
