Yankees Get (yet) Another Sponsor

Sony unveiled a new branding for their HD LCD televsions, named BRAVIA, which they unveiled before the yankees-blue jays game with a board in right field.

"The 2005 sponsorship arrangement with the Yankees also includes designating Sony as the official LCD TV of the team."

Huh? The Yankees need an official LCD TV of the team?

    Looks like I won't be buying a new Sony TV this year... image


    But, are you really surprised? How else do the Yanks fund such a monster payroll, but to rent out the name to anyone and everyone who comes calling for it? Listen to a Yankee radio game (torture, I know) and you hear an official something or other of the Yankees every 5 minutes.

    There's a difference between ads at the ballpark and selling your soul like the yankees have done. Like CT said, they've gotta generate revenue to pay that bloated payroll.
