I remember buying three on a lark once, and the best card I pulled was a BCCG 9 Leaf Sosa rookie, which I think basically paid for that one pack. Needless to say, the expected value of the cards inside the pack is probably a third of the price at most, and likely much less.
The mini-helmets and signed baseballs are fun to open but I would probably stay away from their graded card packs. Also don't do it looking to turn a profit because you won't. Trust me!
I love opening up the mini helmets. I pulled a Joe Perry (HOF) in a throwback silver 49ers helmet and a Don McIlheny (HOF) 49ers helmet. I've also pulled a Larry Brown (S.B. MVP inscription) and a Milt Plum. The interesting thing about Plum is that besides Montana and Young, he is the only QB to ever finish a season with a QB rating of over 100 (1960, I think). I'm not sure if Manning did this last year when he broke the TD record.
Wow-I didn't realize that. I wonder if anything close to that has happened before last year. If not, that would make a great story. I'm sure more qbs will break it as long as the nfl continues to limit defenses in their aggressiveness. Better receivers, limited defenses and some good qbs tell the story.
I checked the 2003 and suprise suprise Air McNair was the only one at like 100.3 or something...lots of them were in the high 90s though. I guess if the trend continues half the qbs in the league will hit that mark someday!

That's crazy that Plum's mark can last for 30-something years until Montana breaks it, then Young breaks Montana's a decade later. Then all of a sudden a handful of qb are posting 100 ratings in recent years. Offense sells tickets, I guess. I remember growing up in the 80s and watching a corner back grapple with a receiver, and the best man got free to make a play on the ball. Those times are dead.
the tristar graded card packs are complete crap. I bought 4 and the best card I got books for probably $0.50 ungraded, so my best bet at selling them is to sell the plastic slabs to a plastic recycling place and use the cards as kindling.

That's one cool picture. About what year is that from?

With the chain link rather than glass boards I would guess 1948-49 give or take a year.
Here's some other cool photo's that I've saved. I should have bid on all of these.
