Need info on how to best scan "chrome"

I read the Lexmark book, but it is silent on how to make a scan of a raw chrome card
turn out correctly/useable. Anybody know any tips/tricks? Thanks.

Some scanners just don't do chrome well. I had an old HP 6600-something from 1997-98 and it did a fantastic job. But it wouldn't work with XP, so I got a new Canon 3300 last year and it makes them look like they're made of lead. All chrome card images requiring tweaking of brightness/contrast. Your scanner should have come with some kind of image editing software if you don't have Photoshop or something, so try playing with the image editing functions.

Other people can advise better than I, but there are 2 types of scanners, CIS and CCD. People say for cards you want CCD because CIS only scans what's directly on the plate, while CCD captures and focuses on things higher up. This is important since you are likely scanning your cards inside sleeves and top loaders. At least that's what I understood from previous discussions, and I may have the acronyms reversed. Try searching this group and the Beckett hobby-talk-baseball group for scanners.
