Another Bulk Submission Question - What about those $40 vintage Star cards?

I have about 200 cards sitting here, waiting to be graded. Many are for my football set registries and some are just nice copies of cards I've picked up along the way, whether they be commons, stars or HOF'ers. My question is, what you all of you do with those cards that are nice, and gradeable but aren't really worth dropping the $25/card to grade? For example, let's say you have a bunch of star/hof type cards that are all nice and would maybe grade out at an 8 but SMR for an 8 is only $45. Do you spend the $25 to grade it? I have a hard time justifying submitting those when the $12 special comes around. I would submit them for $5-$6 each but these are star and HOF cards and don't qualify under the regular bulk services.

I'd like to hear other peoples thoughts. I know I've seen a few posts where people said they did a bulk sub and snuck in a few star cards... How has that worked out?

I believe if you have any that fall within the 72-92 range they are eligible for the August $5 special whether they are commons or not. I am going to get a submission in with rookies and stars with this special. Hopes this helps.

Any cards worth less than $500 can be submitted for $15, no?

PSA has been very kind with a few HOFers included in a special. Received fine grades, as well.

I think as long as they are not big name HOFers.

With the current special, everything is $5. Otherwise (if it's outside of this time frame) I would wait until the appropriate special.

I just sent in almost 100 cards under the $5 special. But I've got a stack of nice 69 Topps football, most are HOF'ers. Butkus, Namath, Unitas, Sayers etc, but even in 7 or 8 most are $45-$75 cards. I'm not sure I want to spend $12 or $15 a piece to have them graded... Maybe I'm just cheap.

I was happy when I saw the current special included any cards, and anytime I have a card over $100 SMR in the condition/grade I expect I have no problem paying the $12. Some of these other cards are just 'tweeners for me...that is, they are borderline whether I want to hold out for a $5 special someday or spend the $12. I'm not worried about when I get them back so that's not an issue.

I'd wait for the appropriate special also with that many cards. With September 11 being the opening day for the NFL, maybe our September special will be FB related...........hint hint

I'm really hoping there is a football special in September. The specials always seem to neglect the type of registry collector I am and the bulk one insists on no star or HOF cards. For me, I am working on some 30+ different registry sets. All but 2 are strictly football and they are all "Key Card" type sets. For example, with the "Team of the Decade" sets there are many stars and HOF'ers. But in many cases the cards book $20 and under, there are even quite a few in those and other sets that book for a couple dollars, especially in the "All Time Team" sets. However, since some are HOF'ers I have to spend $12 to have those graded because they are HOF'ers even though they book for a couple bucks. I just sent in an 89 Pro Set Randall McDaniel on the $5 special...he books for $.20.

I guess I'd just like to see some kind of a special for 50's and 60's football that falls in the registry. Maybe limit it to cards that book <$100 or something and charge $5 or $6/card with a 25 card minimum. That would be something I could really take advantage of and would be worth submitting all these cards I have for the registries I'm working on. I'd have to believe there are other people who could really use a special like that as well...

Am I wrong?
