    It's from Colombia.
  • The Republic of New Grenada became Colombia in 1861. This type 1/2 real coin was minted in Popayan 1838-48 and contains .0269 of an ounce of silver. The mintmasters initials are UE. The coin may be worth about $5-$10 in Fine condition. You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
