PSA Card with DNA - How does it affect resale if at all?

Quick question for the boards, if anyone has had experiences with it. Have you ever listed a card on ebay that was graded well (8 or above) of a HOF'er (or not), that was also DNA certified and autographed. Not one of the modern chase cards, but a vintage card with a sig on it thats legit?.
Did it affect or change the closing price one way or the other?
Thanks in advance for any info

Let me put it to you this way...I only ebay search for autos by putting in PSA/DNA. Now, I'm not talking about chase cards.

My experience, they sell way better if certified by PSA/DNA e.g.

When it comes to autographed cards, it's sometimes more who the signature is of than what the grade is.

I had this card graded at the National:

As a PSA 2 (paper loss on the back, nice front), the card is not worth much at all. As 1940 Play Ball Arky Vaughan autographed card, I paid over $400 for it. As a PSA/DNA certified autographed card, I'm willing to bet I could get close to full SMR for it ($800).

    Super card Sean!

I haven't ever seen one of those signed! Very nice HOF card.

I wasn't thinking of the grade of the card as much as whether the card is authenticated by PSA/DNA or sold raw, e.g.

In that case, your card would be snatched up with confidence whereas a raw version of your card would not pull in as many decent bidders - just my guess.

Exactly. Granted, in my case, I picked up the cards from one very reliable seller (Scott Gaynor), who stands behind all of the autographs he sells, PSA/DNA certified or not. I had picked up the following 2 cards "raw" from him as well, then got them slabbed at the National:

I am someone that has long believed that autographs on valuable cards were their own form of certificate of authenticity. Why whould someone ruin a valuable card with a fake signature?

Nice thread. I bought a raw autographed 1952 Bowman Enos Slaughter on Ebay for $20 last year. The card is in GD condition. I did the "quick opinion" from PSA/DNA for something like $7 or $8. They emailed back saying that it was "Likely Genuine." So, I bought it. I bought to put in my album of Cardinal team sets.

Would it be worth my money to have it slabbed? Would it make the card more valuable if I decided to sell it? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Also, how much would it cost me to have the signature authenticated and the card slabbed?

It's $20 to have the autograph authenticated and the card holderd (graded or ungraded, you decide). With Slaughter, I'm not sure how much extra value it will add now (he signed a ton), but it will make it easer for you if you ever want to sell it. Plus it looks good. image

    I like Gaynor also.

On the Roy auto - it's super! Looks like a pre-accident auto. If BKAH were here, he would be chartreuse with envy.

I like the auto cards - also the modern auto'ed cards - I picked up a "lot" of common autos from 53Ts and later the guy wound up being voted in by the veteran committee - just luck:

My favorite auto card is the next one I pick up. image

    Thanx for sharing

    Sean -

What if the auto is legit, but the card is trimmed and you select the ungraded option? Will they slab it anyway and, if so, will any alterations be noted on the slab?

I remember seeing some ungraded psa/dna cards from controversial modern card dealers in the past. That's why I'm asking.

I remember seeing a 1953 Bowman Reese PSA/DNA holdered card with Authentic - Trimmed on the flip. You might want to talk to customer service just to make sure.

  • its from the 69 topps supers in 9, i just don't know if there are enough people who collect both the autos and the card to help determine whether to play up the psa/dna auto aspect or the nice 9 aspect
its gotta kinda high smr value in psa 9, so i don't know what kind of bump to look for, for the dna side of it.
