    Very nice pull Greg. Congrats!

Is that from UD Legends football or regular UD?
  • gregm13gregm13 Posts: 5,798 ✭✭✭
It's from the UD Legends that just came out. Believe it or not - the autographs are on stickers but most of them are clear. The Jim Brown auto that I pulled was on a foil sticker - but it was the only one. I just put it on E-Bay - check it out E-Bay auction

Good for you sir. In my very humble opinion Earl Campbell is one of the most underappreciated stars in the history of the NFL. I know he did not have a long and auspicious career, but for a couple of years there he was simply outstanding.

Nice pull! I bid too. I thought it would have been a steal for $6.66. Oh well, to someone who more seriously collects this. I am stuck in the 70's!

Fantastic! How much product did you open? You are a lucky guy! I keep saying every year that eventually I have to make the pull of the century with Heritage - but then again - I may get hit by lightning some day also! image

    Congrats again
PS: I just emailed my sister - she's still friends with Carolina Costanza - I haven't seen her in mucho anos!

I opened six boxes and am selling 10. The first box contained the Brown and quad signature card. I should have stopped after one box!!!

    Mike,

I'm sure it was the best 10 seconds of her life image My love at age 14 was Bridget Cunningham, and I can tell you that I never got within 10 feet of her brastrap

The Brown and Noll are staying in my personal collection. I'm going to start submitting cards for my HOF Autograph set - and these are the only auto'd cards I own of either HOFer.

Nice pull..I opened a box and half of this stuff and pulled autos on Zorn, Hannah Clark and
    the Frig..hardly legends!

The sticker autos suck..UD is now in all the way...Its amazing what you can come up with when
    you use stickers.

I often wonder if a card like that would of been better if say it had Montana, Clark and Craig
on it....sure a lot less greatness than the card you pulled, but I can't see the link between
those players..ok dream team, but you are losing some collectability when you put guys
who played on different teams on one card.

    None the less, nice pulls!

Well Greg, because of your great luck I busted one box and 6 loose packs.

    I managed 6 autos...

Russ Francis, Jim Zorn, Pat Haden, Charley Taylor, Bobby Mitchell & Conrad Dobler.

Here's hoping at least one of them turns out to be ultra SP'd... or I got screwed.

What was the cost on a pack?

Local shop has them at $5 / pack ($118/box) I get the good customer discount of 15% off on top of that. I'm not terribly impressed with the looks of the cards either. I like last years better and I didn't really like those much either.

There is a definite collation problem too. at least in boxes that come from the same case. The autos are in the exact spot, now that I know that, packs from opened boxes won't be on my list to buy any longer.
  • Wow 118 $ a box ?

Just got home from a big show in N.Y and noticed a couple dealers selling boxes of 05 Legends for $85 and $ 82

Yeah, welcome to my world of local card shops. Their "corporate name" is Shinder's, but we don't call them "Swindler's" for nothing. image I'm sure wholesale is quite a bit cheaper, but I support the local shop. Still usually costs me more than if I went online with my wholesaler but I get that instant gratification... I know...it's dumb.

6 autos from a box and some loose packs is incredible...you really can't expect a lot of great stuff at that rate.
2 in a box would be outstanding for a hobby box for that kind of money.
Got a scan? Would like to see the design of the auto cards.

    thanx

Did you take advantage of knowing where the autos are in every box?? Heck it took me 21 packs
until I pulled my first auto or maybe "some packs" means 20 or so? LOL

and the SP list is out and there are NO scrubs on it..only the usual suspects...guys we really
don't need to pull to get our money back..Montana, Barry, Marino

Actually you get 3 auto's per box. I bought one sealed box, and got my 3 autos. There were 4 loose packs in a leftover box so I grabbed those and pulled the Bobby Mitchell auto. The manager watched me bust the box and offered me 2 more packs cuz he felt bad. I grabbed the 2nd pack down from the top in the middle and either the left or right side rows and pulled an auto in each. Apparently the auto location doesn't hold true in all boxes. Seems it may be true in a case configuration, but I'm not sure. Maybe I just got lucky. I'm not complaining about the number of autos I got, I'm just "complaining" about the fact that they aren't exactly people you'd want to pull. And while I realize kids won't be opening this stuff, how many people have ever even heard of the players I pulled? To be honest, if half of them weren't in one of my football "Key Card" regisitries I may not have ever heard of any of them. Conrad Dobler is still a new one to me. image
  • I personally don't like the "sticker" auto's although in most cases Upper Deck does it right by using the clear stickers. I wonder if the market will start placing a premium on those autographs that are directly on the card?

I had a triple auto of frank, brooks and Jim Palmer in my hand for hours before I realized it was a sticker auto. UD has done
an ok job making these look normal

This is true-- but UD has not done a good job of preventing 90% of the collectors who buy one of thier boxes from feeling like they just got prison raped after they bust it.
