My Reply to PSA---

I just won this coin on ebay two weeks ago. Here is the auction. I paid via Paypal to this buyer and I expected my coin to arrive. This is why I had added it to my Master Set.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5221569676&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1

So whoever is trying to list this coin----I WANT MY COIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I WILL ASLO BE POSTING THIS ON THE MESSAGE BOARD.

    ?????

That has nothing to do with PSA. Someone is trying to add that cert to their set and PSA is simply letting
    you know via automated email

PS: No, its not me image

PSA Set Registry, does not allow the "adding of an item", before it is in your possession. Normally BJ Searls (I think that is his correct name?) of the set registry department will send you an email not to add a card until you receive it from the seller.

Is there a chance that the seller had a duplicate? But just used one scan for both items? Email the seller, as you mostl likely are not getting screwed. As this happens to me every so often (as I also like to add my items also right away! hehehehehe!)

This was not previously on any PSA member's SET!!!!! NO ONE HAD TO TAKE THIS OFF OF THEIR SET!!!!!!!!!!!

Either the SELLER is trying to add this coin or he sent it to someone other than myself--GET IT NOW?!!!
  • Take the CAPS lock off and take a DEEP breath. I mean it's a $10.00 item. Not worth getting that worked up over is it??
Why not wait to here from the seller and then you can go off about getting screwed.
  • carew4mecarew4me Posts: 3,473 ✭✭✭✭
    No.

The image is still in the auction which means that any can come along and use that serial# to try and reg the item in their set.

Again, this has nothing to do with PSA or Ebay. I doubt the seller has done anything either.

And look, I made that whole statement without ANY F**KING CAPS!

Wow, calm down. I hope you're not e-mailing the seller in the same fashion that you're handling yourself in this thread.

Hey, you come on here, hopefully seeking advice from others I presume and you have to start talking to other members this way. No need to talk down to anyone.

Are you 100% positive. Have you checked all of the HOF sets - all of the "Way I Collect" sets - and the myriad other sets it could be lurking in besides a Carew-only set?

also - agreed with others here. You do not possess the coin, so you should not be adding it to your set. I know many people who do add a card as soon as they've won it on Ebay - but after being on the Registry for 4+ years - I can definitively say that lost mail, damaged cards, etc. is a possibility, albeit remote -and you should wait until you receive the card. Your issue right now should be with the seller, not PSA.

It has nothing to do with the amount of the auction. The point is, i won this auction--i have not received my item as of today--I filed a Paypal claim for not receiving my item---to only learn that someone other than myself is trying to list this coin (today) on PSA'S Registry Set. So yah, i 'm a little pissed off. I have several of these ungraded that will 9 or 10--but again that's not the point. And with the recent Neg's showing on this person i should have known better. As i have very few left to complete the Master Set i will only be buying from reputable people--(Carew4me,DSL,4SC...) . It seems each time i go out of that comfort zone that this unfortunate kind of thing happens all to often. I will have to control my buying urges from certian types of ebay sellers.

I do not use Paypal, but is there a way to track when the seller actually receives the money into his account? What has the seller stated on why item has not been received by you?

I have no beef with PSA by the way. It was just the e-mail from them informing me that someone was trying to list this coin---Maybe that is a good reason to list it at soon as you won. What if it was a Mantle card? Does the player and value make the difference on people's opinions?
  • Someone probably just copied the number on the holder (which is easy to see from the Ebay scan) and tried adding it to thier own set. People all the time scam peoples card numbers (esp. when a scan isnt involved) to get bids on items. I would assume there could be 10% of people who scam numbers to build a non existant set on the registry boards. Its the American way. Be patient and if your card doesnt arrive in another week than contact the seller and PSA............

Carew: FWIW - I've never had bad experiences in the past with that seller. That being said - you should be contacting him ASAP to resolve.

I have sent two e-mails to the seller, who stated he sent the item out on August 8th. As of today i have received 3 other items from the state of PA without any problems this week alone. I also gave the seller the more time to see if it would arrive.
But the e-mail from PSA is now telling a different story. I am glad your experience went well. I paid via Paypal on August 3rd, i even understand waiting the 3 or 4 days before funds hit your account before sending an item. But when someone other than me is trying to list this item on a set, this is a problem.
What would be nice is if PSA would have whoever is trying to list this coin call me and see what we can do to resolve this. Anyone betting on this ever happening?

    Carew29:

You know that PSA cannot give you that information [confidentiality and all]. It might be quickest for you to figure out who has the disc if you deleted it and saw who registered it. But that only works if they validate the set once they add it. Have you gotten or asked for a refund...?

That was my second e-mail to the seller which has not been answered since tuesday. I can always stop the Paypal claim at anytime, but i'm not waiting either as paypal gives you only so many days to file claim.

This guy is either very disorganized, makes money in spite of himself, or is not trustworthy.

His negs are all for the same reason - it's been long enough without communication - you get 30 days to unwind this thru paypal. It's time, IMO, to act.

If the item comes, you can always repay the guy. I promise, the guy will "jump" the minute he gets the message from paypal that you have filed.

PSA has asked me to remove this from my set, which i will "under protest"lol. This is becoming at $13 headache and it just ain't worth it!! As i have about 8 free subs sitting at home i will just send those in and take whatever grade i get.

It is funny how we all have different combinations of "comfort zones."

My neighbors and I have bought stuff from livehorn and always had good service. Also, their autos - the
ones that my friends have submitted - have all been ok'd by PSA.

    Sounds like a registry scan-scam.

I hope you get your coin, or that it was USPS insured.

Carew29, that's the last thing I would do. If you won the coin at auction you own it. Yeah, you jumped the gun and added it to your set before you had it in hand but good thing you did. Email PSA and tell them why you won't remove it. Include a link to this thread and the auction. Maybe they'll help you get to the bottom of this.

BTW I agree with you. $10.00 or $10,000.00 a rip off is a rip off.

Best of luck and let us know what happens. Bob

As i got home tonight with a cold beer in hand, I started to think, what if i had a card get stolen from my home and then that person tried to list it on his " new" registry set. Am i going to have to remove this card from my set because i am no longer in possession of it? Sounds like a crock of crap to me!!!
  • StingrayStingray Posts: 8,843 ✭✭✭

I totally agree. After re-reading this thread, I am going to start adding things to my set right after I win them too. This way it *should* catch a crook red-handed if the card gets *lost* during shipping.

Until you have possession of something...I don't think you can actually say you own it.

Taking an "I'll show them attitude" will not win you any points with PSA (or a court of law for that matter). If it comes down to it PSA will remove the item from your set themselves.

The issue here is with the seller and the seller alone.

Lostdarts--learn to read and look about 8 post above this one and will see i removed it.. And if you look a little further i also stated i did not have any issues with PSA. It was with the person who is trying to register something that i won and haven't received. And as for the "court of law" quip, this would qualify as "small claims" and it would cost me $ 25 just to file for a $13 item. This would be the same as spending $50 on Lotto tickets and yelling " Hey everybody, i won $5!!!
  • Carew29Carew29 Posts: 4,025 ✭✭

Still no PSA 10 in the mail as of today. Please read first post and you will understand why. I went ahead and filed with Paypal for the refund. I even sent two e-mails prior to just go ahead and send me a refund back. No response to now 3-e-mails. So IMO i do not reccomend buying from this individual.
  • It is possible the seller has more than one Carew, and is selling them using the same photo, considering the coins are pretty generic and relatively inexpensive. Just a thought that would explain everything.
  • Carew29Carew29 Posts: 4,025 ✭✭

He had (2) PSA 10'S. The first one was won by the #1 Carew Master--Alfaro. I won this other coin auction 3 weeks later from the same seller. Aflaro had already listed his, and i had listed my psa # the day i won mine from ebay which was several weeks after Alfaro's.
