Not sure why, but I was just browsing thru some of the 80's registry sets when I ran across the #1 1981 Fleer baseball master set. My curiosity got the best of me because of his near completion, so I opened it up to look....mainly to see the variations...I remember several as a 12 year old back then. Looking thru, he has comments on nearly every card as well as pics of most if not all the cards. He lists dates/location of death and other interesting stats. I was amazed!! If only some of those with vintage sets would put that much time and effort into their sets, it would be interesting and educational for all. By the way...I don't want to bring up the debate of showing/hiding sets on the registry because i understand ((but don't necessarily agree)) why people hide them. What I don't understand is why they hide them at #1 and 100% complete. That would be the time to open them up and share them. What good is it if we don't shrare them with our fellow collectors?
Anyway, hats off to Dale.....the time and effort put into a set that few would even consider buying raw... now that is what the hobby is all about!!!!
Thanks Dale!!

Congrats on that.

That is awesome! I had no idea Bake McBride was the 1974 NL ROY. This is going to take me all the way to lunch

Probably upgrading the set when the chance arises. Maybe they snipe and don't want the #2 guy to know what they're going after.
BTW Great job Dale!

I just own a partial set of '81 Fleer baseball. I don't seem to have an example of a "Little finger on back" variation.
Can anyone provide a scan of what that looks like??
Just curious as to which finger this might be... ...but I'm serious about wanting to see a scan!!

The 1981 Fleer "The Dale B. Wedge Set " isn't among the Current Finest... it only shows in the "All-Time Finest" section. What does that mean? Has the set been dismantled? Sold off?
Thanks,
Tom
I had alot of fun putting it together, gathering information from Baseball Reference, then I cut and pasted it to the comments section.
I uploaded all pictures and really would have liked to show both front and back.
Since I did sell the set, it would be nice if PSA would allow me to go in and make updates to the comments section. For instance, when people die or become managers, etc.
It was a labor of love and I wish at times I would have kept it.
The small finger is on the back of the card at the bottom. Kind of looks like what a cursor would be, only its a finger.
