That is nice and all. However, the last 1883 Morgan PCHS PR64CAM that sold on Heritage this year went for $2530. So you really shouldn't get snippy when people offer you more than what those comparitively common proofs are typically selling for at auction. You can just say no and wait for your moon money.
Actually, as far as proofs go, the 1883 is relatively common ... ie over 1,000 minted. But that wasn't my point. I was commenting on the rather rude response to a reasonable offer when a simple "no thank you" or no response at all would suffice. I am just encountering this type of seller more often and thought that it warranted comment.
PCGS has only certified 196 1883 Proof Morgans. Of these, only 21 (less than 15% - pop 21/8) are Cameo. None are Deep Cameo. This one doesn't miss by much.
So, no, they aren't common.
If want to learn about Proof Morgans, and the specifics of each year I'd suggest Wayne Miller's Morgan and Peace Dollar textbook. And thank you for your offer, but I think I'll pass.
