Ebay cancellation - sorry guys!

Hey Fellas,

I just want to appoligies to everyone who placed a bid on my ebay auction. Sorry I had to cancel everyones bids and remove the listing. For some strange unforseen reason, I didn't think I was attached to these cards "Hall of Fame Baseball Autographs" I had a guy from Japan, pester me for awhile to sell him my Ruth auto. I told him it wasn't for sell and I was building a set, but he was very persistant and I eventually gave in and sold it to him. I was amazed when he paypal'ed me instantly. Then I figured, I guess I'll sell off the rest of my cards since I no longer had the main attraction in my set. I posted the first 35 on ebay, only to regret thinking I was making a Big mistake. I couldn't sleep for two nights thinking I was making a mistake in selling them. Which has never happened to me before. Although I have 106 autographs, I only listed the 1st 35 of which 22 had bids. Which I cancelled today. I didn't realize I was so attached to building this set. I emailed the buyer of my Ruth today in possibly buying back the card, but the guy wanted triple the amount. I regret selling that card but I still have the rest in my set. My appoligies to everyone who placed a bid on my auction. Sorry for the cancellation. I didn't realize I was so attached to these cards, Am I crazy or what?

No, not crazy at all. At least you figured it out before you sold them. I would think that eventually you will find another Ruth to fill the gap in your collection. Good luck in the hunt, and I admire your honest.

  • Well, that explains why they all ended up in my completed auctions. They looked great. At least you listed them. I dont even get that close even though I am constantly pestered to sell something.......

I totally understand your position and respect the fact that you came on to attest to your attachment.

That's exactly how I feel about anything I buy, find, get offered, "acquire" or whatever! They are part of what I really enjoy doing and talking about.

    Good luck!

    Honesty goes a long way!

I once sold a card on ebay and after a couple of weeks i emailed the buyer and asked him to please sell it back to me...he did ( for a nice profit) and then i sold it again later on with no regrets...go figure..

  • I can't blame you. It never ceases to amaze me how we get so attached to things. Heck, I still have my Rampar R10 BMX bike that I got as a gift from my parents for my 8th birthday and still mourn the loss of my Big Wheel image

I am glad you figured it out before they were sold off. Kudos for your honesty as well!
  • No problem. I certainly understand where you're coming from. There's been many a time where I could have used some extra cash and thought about throwing a few of mine up but luckily I talked myself out of it.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you acquire the Ruth auto to begin with?
  • I can't get rid of anything either. Every nook and cranny of my house has some sort of sports related item crammed in it.... Just can't sell it.

I purchased a case on Ebay and got lucky and pulled it from a pack.

I had scan of the card on the registery many times, but I had to remove it because several board members in the past let me know somebody was selling my card on ebay. Which was a scam, so I pulled it.

  • The Japan buyer will most likely be listing the Ruth on ebay. It seems that a lot of times when overseas buyers are persistant on getting a card, they usually try to hype it up and flip it. That happened with a card I sold to taiwan, but the seller probably didn't make any money after fees, especially if the auction was paid via paypal.
