Are the grades you're using UK or US? To my (admittedly not expert) eyes, the one on the right looks VF by US standards...

Or am I off?

I was just going with what the seller had. I bought em' as VG and Fine. I need to get somemore 2X2 flips too. I'm down to reusing old ones

Nice pair, the 1889 looks at least VF to me, you may want to consider SAFLIPS ® for your better coins, they are Non-PVC....
