Action shots on cards??

I have been wanting to ask this before, what year did Topps start using actual game shots on their baseball cards? I know there are some in the 71 set, i.e.; Munson. Did they have any in 70 or prior?

Edit: I meant for a regular players card, no subsets and not including the backgrounds on 55s or 56s.

I know in 55, they used action shots in the background. Hope that helps.

  • I believe it was the '71 set. Action shots were used for background and subsets in earlier issues but, as I recall, the 71' set started using them for regular issue cards. Although, no action shots come to mind in the '75 set oddly enough. I'm sure there are but none come to mind off the top of my head. image

  • Like was stated about the subsets, Topps always had those great world series cards, plus the cards like Mantle's "The switch hitter connects", etc..
