How many of your registry coins did you make?

My Registry interest has turned back to my Buffalo nickels. I find I spend more time enjoying them right now. Last night I added a column to my Buffalo nickel spreadsheet. It indicates whether I purchased the coin raw, or in a TPG holder, or had a raw coin graded. The summary is

1 in a Rattler
12 in Old Green Holders
2 in Old Blue Holders (Bar code on reverse)
4 in New Blue Holders
17 purchased raw but now in PCGS holders

That's the registry set at PCGS. In addition, I have

1 in an NGC holder
5 in Hallmark holders
20 still raw

I expect a few of these will make their way to PCGS before the year ends.

What's the "composition" of holders in your registry set? How many did you purchase raw?

Enjoy, CoolKarma

Only eight coins in my set:

    Five I made.
One I acquired in a trade deal involving coins I made.
    Two I bought already graded.

Of my highest ranking Jeff proof (1938-64) set, four (1938, 1957 (CAM, no less) 1959 and 1962) were raw and the 1960 was cracked out of a pre-designation green holder and went DCAM. My other Jeff proof sets contain higher percentages of raw coins. Of my 1967 SMS set, tied for eighth best, four were made from raw coins, including the DCAMs for the JFK and Jeff. I only lack the dime for a totally made from raw set ... and I'm still searching for it.

Used to "make" my reg. set coins, but don't have the eyes anymore...
  • I make over 50% of mine. I love the anticipation waiting to see how close my eye is to PCGS. Hit some, miss some. Love the game. I've got an 85CC $20 in now waiting to see what happens. I'm guessing VF 30/35.
