Pretty. Stupidly expensive... but pretty.

I love the depth of relief and exquisite attention to detail. I'd be worried about it being bogus (is that gold rubbing off on the rim I see?).

I understand that a lot of medals were gilt back in those days.

"THIS MEDAL IS NOT RELEASE OF 1724, IT IS SPECIAL REPETITION FOR COLLECTORS IN 1830-1840."

Pretty damn spendy for simple gilt "repetition"......danger, danger!

I didn't even look at the auction, just the pics! I could think of better things to do with $14,900!

  • Pretty be buggered, its beautiful, very nice indeed. Pity about the price tag.
  • Gorgeous !!
    knowledge ........ share it
  • Not generally my kind of thing being that it's not a coin, but it is very nice. Nice regal pompous opulent air to it, which i like.

And although it doesn't entirely volunteer itself as a member of the wigged elite (since it looks more like natural hair) it's still good in my book.
  • Yea, exceeding pretty... I only saw some medals back in the Hermitage museum but they suprisingly didn't have a great collection. I was kind of expecting a lot more...
