  • Could go either way. The seller has bought and sold unopened. They have bought GAI packs before so it is not out of the realm of possibility that they have the pack. They have also built their feedback up with alot of small purchases as well. Their feedback is all good and they accept paypal so thats a plus. If I were to pull the trigger I would use paypal and MAKE SURE YOU USE YOUR CREDIT CARD with paypal. That way you have paypal and your credit card company to protect you. If the pack wasn't already graded I would say no way since they have bought quite a few wrappers on ebay.

No idea if the seller is a scammer or not, but wouldn't the GAI slab rule out a "searched" pack?

I saw that pack and gave it a pass.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • I am a little confused, if this pack was opened ( or thoughts are it was) how did that get by the people at GAI? If we as collectors can't trust the only pack graders in the industry (until psa gets into it in 2006) then how can we be sure of any unopened material?

The GAI pack is like any product you buy today that has been sealed in plastic halves - you know - the ones that you hate to open and wind up grabbing a knife and start hacking at it!

These packs are not tamper proof - but "supposed" to be tamper evident I believe - those oddly geometric shaped areas are the indentational ridges in the holder that will show that the pack has been opened and resealed?

If you look to the left of those shiny geometric tamper evident ridges, you will see a GRAYish vertical line - since I blew this up, that is the SPACE between the two pieces of plastic that are sealed together.

I don't think it would be hard to carefully separate these two halves - the trick is to beat the tamper evident ridges.

Key: how is this sealed - if by heat - ya can't get them back together - but if sonic resonance - if someone has access to a sealer?

If I remember, Novocent once worked with battery packs that were put in bubble packs like the GAI packs and they were done with a sonic sealer.

    Where there's a crook, a will and a way - CROOK + Product + Method = SCAM

I'm not saying the guy is doing anything wrong but he has conveniently left out the "borders" of the holder?

  • The scan with no borders might be an honest slip. Why take a chance though?

'57 packs seem to show up in all the major auctions. There's a NM-MT 8 pack in the current Mastro auction.
