WANNABEDEALER, go find some political forums keets, I see under the 'Originator' column that this is Lucy's thread. Not sure what you were thinking there. Lucy, nice coin, nice pics as always!
The 4 Proofs I ordered came yesterday, all OUTSTANDING !!! Now I'm waiting on the Unc. coin that I also ordered. Would be nice if the Proofs and Uncs. were from different mints like "S" and "P". You know San Diego and Parris Island. This was the second flag raising which took place Feb. 23, 1945. The purpose was to replace the first flag with a much larger one. There are 6 flag raisers, 5 Marines and a Navy corpsman. From left to right they are: PFC. Ira Hayes (Az.)- Died 1955 PFC. Franklin Sousley (Ky.)- KIA 3/21/45 Ph. M. John Bradley (Wi.)- died 1994 Cpl. Harlon Block (Tx.)- KIA 3/1/45
In the back: Sgt. Mike Strank (Pa.)- KIA 3/1/45 PFC. Rene Gagnon (NH)- died 1979
A good book to read is "Flags of Our Fathers" by James Bradley , son of John Bradley
