1978 Basketball pack break.

I just got back from Disney World and the packs I bought from Kruk Cards were waiting for me at the Post Office. So far I only opened six of ten packs. I will open the other 4 when I want a break from the things that need to be done after you get back from vacation; cleaning, grocery shopping, etc.

Here are the results:

Pack 1 - David Thompson, Dave Cowens, Paul Westphal, and Earl Monroe.

Pack 2 - Bernard King Rookie (looks like an 8 or 9), and a Jack Sikma rookie

Pack 3 - Artis Gilmore, DR. J (another 8 or 9), and a Dennis Johnson rookie

Pack 4 - David Thompson

Pack 5 - Robert Parrish, Dave Bing

Pack 6 - George McGinnis, Spencer Haywood, Nate Archibold, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar! OFF CENTER! ARGHHHH!!!

Hopefully the last four will hold another Jabbar with better centering.

  • Are you doing the 78 bskt set, or just trying some of them out? I've always been interested in everything 78, but only have a raw 78 baseball set so far.

Editted: If you are doing the set or have broke a lot, is this typical? And nice break!

The great thing about 78 and 79 basketball packs are that they are relatively cheap and because of the small sets, there is a major star in almost every pack. Those years are my favorite basketball packs to open, because they aren't as difficult to find, so they don't take a lot of courage to open. It is always a lot of enjoyment, even though the cards themselves are not worth as much as some other years and there are not huge rookies. I still buy a few of those now and then, even though I've completed that set (which isn't that hard to do, of course).

    Very nice Bob
I have considered buying a box from time to time but never did.

I actually like the 78-9 design!

    Good luck on the Jabbar

Well I opened the last four packs:

    Pack # 7 - Bernard King

Pack # 8 - Robert Parrish, Bob Lanier and Walter Davis rookie

Pack # 9 - Bob McAdoo, George McGinnis, and another Kareem Abdul Jabbar OFF CENTER AGAIN!

Pack #10 - Jack Sikma rookie, Bill Walton and Pete Maravich

I already have a set but I just like openeing packs and these are fairly inexpensive. No way can I afford to open some 1972 baseball or something like that which some of you can.

    Well that was fun.
