Proof set question from newbie
I have about 30 proof sets in their original envelopes (envelopes are open). The coins are all sealed. They were not purchased from a dealer and I have had them for 25++ years.I am considering selling them. Is there anything I should look for so I don't sell a $200 set ( example) for $7? I read somewhere about a certain 1/2 dollar that was worth quite a bit of money.
Thanks

So what does "cameo" mean and is it highly noticable?

Accent Hair JFKs were made in the early part of 1964. Cameo proofs have very frosted devices with highly reflective fields (like a mirror). These are extremely valuable in proof coins from 1936-1942. Deep Cameo coins from the '50s are also very valuable. There are a few years after the Mint started making proof coins in San Francisco where a few sets are missing the S mint mark. They are valuable.

You got that from eBay auction descriptions, didn't you?
Since your sets are opened, check for coins that look like this:
They aren't worth anything, but if you find some I'll buy them for double the $7 you mentioned.

<< <i>Be nice, he was asking a serious question and there is an extremely slight possibility that there are some cameos or deep cameos in the bunch. >>
I was being nice. I provided him an image so he'd know what a cameo looks like.
