THATS only a 5?? Ive pulled heritage cards out of packs this year that don't look as good as that. What am I missing here? That card is 50 years old right???
That's what I was thinking as well (surface wrinkle), has to be one. That is a beautiful 5 as well Mike. Does it have a wrinkle that's not visible in the scan? Love that yellow background.
I'm sure you'd see the surface wrinkle if you had the Aaron card in your hand, but from the scan - it looks like the buyer got himself a nice deal on this!

And if there's a slight wrinkle - a little hydration and spooning and presto!....an 8!
I've discussed these PSA 5 '62Ts before. I got them in a batch of 5 PSA 5 cards (including a 1960 and 2 1961 Topps cards) that were all nice except for a very minor surface wrinkle here or there...wish I could've added that Aaron to the collection!
Wow. Thats unbelievable. Nice pick ups HH, and that Aaron looks sweet. Those all look nicer than some 8's I have in my collection. I think this is an area where DaBigHurts peeps miss the boat. Sometimes a surface wrinkle does not detract eye appeal from a 7 or 8 to a 5
An unrelated question to this thread, but after seeing Stone's 33 Goudey, I had a question. Why do some 33 Goudeys have Big League Chewing Gum on the bottom and others do not? Are they a different series? Never knew why.
Edit: Never mind I did see now that they are differen series of cards for 33 the early one with the wording.
This Killer Rookie also graded a "5" has no surface wrinkle. It does have 4 very slight corner touches. The Aaron which is the subject of this thread may or may not have a wrinkle. It may have 4 very slight corner touches as well. Until you see it in person one will never know for sure.
I'm sure it's got a paper wrinkle. I have PSA 5 copies of 1959 and 1961 Willie Mays that look just about perfect in a scan. I love them. In fact, I love paper wrinkles. You get a mint looking card for a fraction of the price. My cards may never be in a Mastro auction, but I got them for forty bucks or so and I think they're great!
Here's my nicest low grade card.. a SGC 4 '51 Ted Lindsay RC. The back is clean. There's a tiny very very hard to see wrinkle on the front of the card.. top right..

That's one heck of a nice 5!
I think this is a nice 5 also.

The corners are slightly frayed but I believe it's undergraded - probably could get at least 1 unit bump if cracked.
