EBay Seller Warning

I'm almost too embarrassed to admit this. I bought a 1760 8 Reale from sunshinestreasurechest recently, before the most recent fake coin accusation placed against them. Upon receiving this coin it was an obvious fake. The small bubbles on the surface, the scalloped edge going all the same direction, no silver ring when flipped in the air like an authentic one does, and most telling the weight of 24.5grams instead of around 27.06 all indicate it's FAKE. Please be warned as this appears to be a malicious attempt to pass off a fraud. I've begun the Paypal dispute resolution process and have a call in to the Postal Service to discuss a possible mail fraud violation. I've tried to contact the seller to no avail, and will post more when I get it.

Please be warned about the coins sunshinestreasurechest is offering...

Sorry to hear that. I have always been hesitant to buy those kinds of coins raw off eBay because of the number of fakes around.

Sorry to hear about it, Danegeld. At least your 2 Reales piece was real.
