Hi David,
Lets say a coin is submitted that has the strike, luster, and eye appeal of an MS69, with no visible marks on the obverse or reverse. But the edge of this coin has rub on the high points of the reeding from handling, and a couple of marks on the edge that would not be visible in the slab. Will the edge marks affect the grade?
Does the edge of a coin have a factor in high MS grades?
Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
The edge would only have an impact on the grade of the coin if...
1. The edge was really noticably worn or messed up, or
2. If there are significant egde cuts, i.e. rim nicks.
Thanks,
David
