Can anybody recommend a really good book for somebody who wants to learn about 20th century French coins? Preferably one that talks about thick flans, thin flans, essais, pieforts, varieties, etc. Thanks in advance.

Edited: Elverno can probably point to sourse for some of these texts. Specifically, Mazard wrote extensively on French Patterns/essais.
Try googling...there is a French coin website which is fairly extensive in it's background, not counting elverno's medals.

This is the site Harasha...thanks.
Sorry Syl, but it only looks like this goes as far back as the Le Directoire period.
Gadoury will likely be the best bet for the modern French coins. The most recent edition is the 2003, you can find it and many others HERE.
<< <i>Can you read French ? Most, if not all, of the books in the link Mac provided are written in French. There is another, that will help Sylvestius but not bosox, that was not listed there - Les Monnaies Francaises Royales - De Hugues Capet A Louis XVI by Jean Duplessy a two volume set. Another, that you can find written in English - Coinage In France - from the Dark Ages to Napoleon by Nicholas Mayhew.

I've heard of Mayhew! That'd be one i shall keep an eye out for. I can read French to a basic level/passable level. The more i do it the better i'll get. So i'll keep an eye out for the Les Monnaise Francaises Royales (actually GD i'm sure that one was listed on the original link in the third post) Unless i've seen it elsewhere?
