Just Starting Up

Hi everyone, I just started coin collecting last month and I am becoming fully addicted. I've noticed it can be quite expensive, so I was wondering where the best place is to buy coins. I understand the cost, but it would help if I could find some cheap places to buy. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

The question you present will result in many suggestions and not everyone will agree. I have had good luck with auctions like Heritage, Teletrade, and David Lawrence. Ebay is a good source of coins and many
members of this forum have Ebay auctions. There is also a buy-sell-trade forum right here known to all of us as BST. You will learn all of this and develop your own favorites. Happy hunting.

I have not participated in these auctions yet. My most trusted and respected auctions on Ebay are
probably Bow Tie Coins and Pine Valley Coins. These favorites will differ among forum members as
we all collect different coin series.

You are receiving some good sound advise, but the #1 key to collecting is to buy what you like! Embrace a series of coins and read all you can on the subject, and most importantly learn how to grade coins. Just because it has a grade on the holder really does not garuantee its the right one. Be selective. What do you collect?
