(OT)-Kuwait Gold Liberation Medal

Here is one I got back in 1991, most of the guys sold theirs but I saved mine. While their still authorized to wear it and can get the ribbon at any BX not many (ME) still have the original one from Saudi Arabia.

Take Care
Ben

Thanks, It's susposed to be silver and gold, but being made by the Saudi's there is no assayers mark so....

Never eat bagels when displaying feats of strength to the wife LOL image

Yes, these are sort of neat. They are not exactly Gold image (Well, maybe plated..). They're readily available on the aftermarket for about $25 new, case and all. If an active duty service member needs another, they are still obtainable through a Battalion Supply Clerk, at least in the Army they are.

A few years back I heard rumors that the original medals from Saudi Arabian government were actually gold, but the later ones (ie from the BX/PX/NEX etc) are not. Sort of like my NATO/Yugoslavia one...the original one I have direct from the source is a bit different than the one later issued by the government and subsequently available when buying/replacing. Is the Saudi-real-gold medal nothing more than a myth than?

I have one of the originals myself; it's a myth. image Even the Saudi government can't afford such things given the amount they awarded.

I agree. Mine is cheap-looking, too, and I doubt the Saudis would have wasted that kind of money on us. image
