How about this 1977 Topps Wax Box on ebay? BBCexchange has one for sale and it is in a different style box?

Seabass, the box on e-bay is the 77 box design. I think you may have seen the 1977 cloth sticker box at the BBC Exchange that is different.

    Hi Dan
You're both kind of right on this one. Actually what seabass was looking at is recycled 75T boxes that Topps used on some of the 77T releases:

Mike, actually I missed that box! I saw the cloth sticker box and assumed Seabass had seen that. Of course we all know what "assume" really means image
Anyway, I was not aware that Topps recycled some of those boxes. Weird that they skipped a year in using them.

I "assume" all the time Dan - you're not alone!

When it comes to the printing - I wish they made notes that Topps archived so someone could do the research - I find it interesting.

My guess - emergency backup stock - the area in blue where it says "77 Special Feature Cards" appears to be an overprint in a blank space or a sticker - there are two different color blues in the area - if you look close. Of course, this is just a guess?

as for the first box in question RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNN ASSSSS FARRRRRR AWAYYYYYYY ASSSSSSSS YOUUUUUUU CANNNNNNNNN !!!!!!!!!

as for the 77 packs in 75 boxes , yes topps recycled these and used them again. I have seen them with a sticker applied to them stating 1977 or 1977 series or something to that affect. edited (I need to open my eyes, it's showing on the box that in the second picture) my guess is that they had these lying around and didn't know what to do with them or they ran out of boxes. Another interesting similar case is the 71 HIGH # packs in 70 wrappers. why did they wait until the last series to use the old 70 wrappers, my guess is they ran out of 71's and did not want to print anymore so they just used the rolls of 70's that they had left over.
