So.....Is the Q&A Forum with David Hall done for good?

I have not seen a reply for like a month?

  • I have noticed the same thing.

I assume he is still recovering from the ANA show.

The Q&A forum is downright weird. I posted one question for David on July 12 and another on July 5. I saw no answers until Aug 2. I thought that David was on vacation and then away at the ANA. Anyway, last Tuesday--5 days ago--he answered both my questions and a few others. Now everything is gone. In the past it seems to me that on the Q&A boards there is some sort of "erasure" or "storage" mechanism at work that eventually "erases" or "stores" a post after a certain amount of time (2 or 3 weeks?) after the question was initally posted. My most recent question that David answered was dated July 12 (and David's answer was dated July 16--also strange, since I was looking and didn't see the answer until Aug 2). Perhaps the posts there have all been stored? Or perhaps it's a bug?

    Mark,

You have it right. The posts drop off after a period. I did an advanced search "homerunhall" as the author and current messages for the past 50 days in the Q&A.

Here is the return I got.

I posted 2 questions to HRH and never received an answer. Both of these were last summer. They were regarding starting a 1946-date Roosevelt set, in which PCGS started a date set, and a 1968-date Mint set, which PCGS did indeed start.

HRH did however reply to a # of my posts, but most of his answers were not what I was looking for, as most were short and routine.

I appreciate his time, but I basically stopped posting.

    Later, Paul.

To those of us who actually DO follow the Q & A board, David has not posted since July 16th. Most earlier posts have been removed from viewing. In the past, several weeks of posts have been available for viewing.

My OPINION is that David has been on vacation at various times this summer. He has posted answers infrequently, and with the ANA show just concluded has not posted since July 16th. IMHO there is a "good" chance that David will post again Tuesday night, August 9th IF there are questions asked or questions to which he has not yet replied.

I would suggest everyone check the Question and Answer Forum Board on Wednesday August 10th to see if I am right.

HRH has taken similar breaks in the past around big shows, and then comes back and answers a boat load of questions. Hopefully that is what is happening now.

I asked him a couple of questions in the past. He has always answered them, but not in the
Q&A Forum. His answers were short and to the point......and I do appreciate the fact that he did
take the time to answer them.

    Happy Hunting!

I see posts in the Q&A forum going back to Aug. 2004. I don't know if certain ones have been removed, but there are plenty of them there.

Check your settings under the Customize link (near the top right corner of each page) to see what you have set for "I would like to see the last [number] days of threads when I enter a category." If it's too small, that could explain why you aren't seeing older posts.

Kranky, you are right!. In my case I have the default set to see the last 30 days of posts to a particular forum. Steveimage

Check the Q&A forum. HRH posted answered to several questions tonight- 8/8/05. Hmmm ... I wonder if he'll get to the question I asked a couple of weeks or so ago.
