djf-coins on ebay...any feedback? question about item I won....

goose3goose3 Posts: 11,471 ✭✭✭
AUction

I won this on July 3.

Mailed check on July 5.

Received item on July 18. VERY slow but probably held due to check.

Emailed July 19 that I would be returning due to laminations that were not seen in pics and that I did not like at all.

Mailed back July 19 fully insured.

July 27, used ebay's thing to get his contact info because I had heard nothing. Called and spoke with him on phone and told him that according to my PO that the package was laying at his PO since 7/22 and that they would be returning it to me very soon if not claimed. He said he was at the show and would call his PO to make sure they hold.

8/5 Still no refund so I email and politely ask where it is and explain I am leaving for vacation next week and would like it resolved before then.

8/6 still nothing via mail or email.

Just called my PO again. He picked it up 7/30 at 1355 hours.

Am I wrong for thinking this is just a bit Ridiculous? I've bought from this guy in the past with no problems.

I think it's a little ridiculous too- the guy doesn't seem very customer oriented/friendly......

ok...checked with my PO on 8/9 and found out that he signed for the package on 7/27. I wrote him another polite email and decided later in the day that I was going to call him ONCE again.

Called and told him that I had sent him 2 emails and that he had either not gotten them or not bothered to reply. Told him I was leaving Friday and wanted this all cleared up by then.

He assured me the check had been mailed out earlier that day..................so now it should be here no later than friday from Michigan to Ohio.

In the meantime, yesterday, he has the nerve to submit whatever to ebay wanting his fees refunded. I am not going to respond to that until I have my money back.

rec'd the coin 7/30 knowing it had been sitting there for over a week and now it's 8/10 and no refund. pretty lame if you ask me.

Not here by Monday, I will call home from Canada and instruct my wife how to leave him a negative.

Sllloooowww service (average 3 weeks in past dealings), but gets the job done. I don't like his yanking auctions (not infrequently) when he gets offers and circumvents the ebaY fees. I complained, to no avail.

Do your best to avoid circular arguments, as it will help you reason better, because better reasoning is often a result of avoiding circular arguments.

I have had no problems with him. He is slow in delivering coins because he only takes checks, but the coins arrive. I have always appreciated his accurate grading on Barber coins and others. He usually sells nice material as well.

I recently won a coin from him a couple weeks ago. Shipped him a money order and got my coin in about a week. I had a good transaction with him.

  • Just so everyone knows... CappedBustDimes is Benjamin Kock from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He "had" two eBay user ids; acetonebath and cappedbustdimes. As acetonebath, he won one of my eBay auctions, and paid by check. The check bounced. He still hasn't made good on it. I left him a negative feedback. He left me one. He then created eBay account cappedbustdimes with a bogus name and address, ran up one of my auctions, then left me a negative feedback. I filed a complaint with eBay Trust and Safefty. They removed the negative feedbacks left by acetonebath and cappedbustdimes, then they terminated both accounts.

All you have to do is go to eBay, click on Advanced Search, click on Find A Member, then type in acetonebath or cappedbustdimes, click on the Search button, then click on the feedback number inside the (). acetonebath is Not a registered user. cappedbustdimes is also Not a registered user.

  • djf, I don't know you and I don't know cappedbustdimes, so I hold no bias one way or the other. You seem to have a good feedback record on eBay, especially lately, and a few others here have 'vouched' for you (if I may be so bold). As they've said, you seem to grade your coins well, and even have a few CBHs I'd be interested in, if I had that kind of cash on hand. Pity you don't take PayPal, I might be sorely tempted, especially on the 1823 'patched 3' you have up right now. image

You have the same right to come here and post as anyone else, feel free to do so.

He does not leave feedback though! I've given him + feedback several weeks ago, and asked him to also post feedback, but he has not, and I doubt he will.

It's been my experience that some sellers wait quite a long time to give a buyer feedback - I've had instances where I left feedback after getting my purchase, then getting theirs 6-8 weeks later. It may still show up.

I just wish sellers didn't hold your feedback "captive" as long as they do. I always send payment for the items I've won within 24 hours of when I win, and quite frequently within 30 MINUTES of when I win. I've handled my end of the transaction in a prompt and professional manner, done my part, I should be given feedback based on that.

This is like arguing religion and politics. In the end, no one is swayed by rational arguments from one side or the other, and all it does is crank up hostility.

Don't want to do that, Ziggy. I've had no problems with coin sellers, anyway. It's all been good... image
