"PRO" rejects card for evid. of trimming!!!!!

Wow, have they changed?

check out ebay auction #5227239430

1958 Topps #485 Ted Williams....

Seller states card was rejected by PRO for being trimmed.

1 brownie point for telling the truth.

-2 brownie points for selling PRO in the first place.

and yes, he does have a scan of the card in the package returned by PRO

Why would they kick this one and let others slide on by?

Maybe the top edge is completely crooked or something. I remember seeing a card in moser's auction that Pro had supposedly rejected. That was a long time ago when he dealt in that stuff. They probably just reject one every now and then just so they can say they did in case they're ever investigated.

The '65 Rose looks hacked to me.
  • The skeptic in me says this is staged to justify that all his other PRO cards are not trimmed.

Don't be fooled by this old trick. Seller has 10 rotten apples and points one out to be rotten, hoping the buyer will then think the other 9 are okay. Pro initiates the trick by occassionally sending back a card as trimmed and the customers of Pro, who know the cards are all trimmed, figure this out and scams with it accordingly. Notice the seller has many other Pro cards currently for auction - some newbies are going to get sucked in to seeing the Williams trimmed card and figure that Pro must then be a legitimate grading company and that the rest of the lots are fine. Well - we all know the rest of the lots aren't fine!

  • I would think a card being rejected by PRO for being trimmed would have to be whittled down to the size of a T206....
