1989 Score FB Question

Were these sets issued with a factory "seal" as shown in this auction?

I haven't noticed any type of seal in other auctions, but people still seem to be paying a slight premium for unsealed factory sets (w/ no scans of the cards) vs. binder sets with pictures of the cards, which I don't altogether understand.

No, they were not issued with seals. The seller must have shrinkwrapped it himself.

Joe is right, they just came in a factory box with no type of seal or wrapping in them. People still put a premium on factory sets, even 89 Score, even though you do not know for sure if someone did not hand pick out the star cards and replace them will less desirable ones. I would prefer to at least see a scan of the high dollar cards shown since this set is not tamper proof.

    Thanks - that's what I figured.

Can you still find these sets in sealed cases?
  • 1989 score football factory sets have several cards with slight variations over the from the pack versions of the cards, one i can remember is Keith Jackson. I am sure the information is available in any annual football guide such as the annual Krause guide.image
  • I remember back in 1989 seeing these sets offered in Price Club - before they were bought out by Costco. Also 1989 Score wax boxes. Price Club shrink wrapped the boxes to prevent opening. But there would be no way to tell the difference today.

They came 24 to the case, and can still be found periodically on eBay. Kruk had one up shortly after I started my PSA 10 set, which was about 2 years ago image.
