Look at this set. I think this kid has a father who buys coins for his sons set. Theres no way a twelve year has the cash to put a set togethor like this. Maybe one of you know who this is. Its a nice set though.
Does it matter if the child buys the coins from his own pocketbook? Maybe the parent(s) foot the bill but let the kid pick out the coin?
Nothing wrong with that in my eyes......let the kid get what he/she likes, within budget, but don't take from the kid's college fund to do it....just let them enjoy the hobby if you can.
For this one, it looks like the set in the kid's name and done by a parent, but the kid may certainly collect the lincolns, just not be able to find/afford them on his own like that. I would like the '68-s in PR69dcam...I am not 12 and I don't have one.
But again, I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I'm doing a birthyear set for my son and not taking his money from his collegefund to do it. It is a set in his name though. Anything wrong with that?

I know! Cameron's been 12 forever. If there is a Cameron. Seems strange to own a set of that caliber but to never ever be heard from on our registry forum. Cameron, come out and play with us.
First of all Cameron Jeffrey is a GIRL.I've met her several times. She is a sweet heart. She use to attend auctions with her dad who paid for the coins. Now she chases boyz. Her dad Jeff Stanley is a bounty hunter in real life.He is still collecting proof Lincolns but can't pass me in the Registry
How old is Cameron now?? I suppose when she is older and appreciate the coins more, she will be very proud of the collection here daddy bought for here
Kids can make some pretty wise decisions. This whole "new" thingy about a "child/parent" reg. set being called, correctly or incorrectly "YN", or named for a kid, by a kid, or after a kid, shouldn't make any difference to mature adult reg. coin collectors, unless, the ugly, scary sour grape monster enters the realm. My boy. at twelve, started a top pop. reg. set of State Quarters in '99, '00, '01, with assistance of adults, just like most of us do, then, saw the values changing, new top pop.s listed, listened to a discussion about "gradeflation", and decided to sell, and save up for a car. He has reinvested, is now going to college, still hasn't a license or a car, and is sitting pretty, happy to have sold before gradeflation stole his profit margin or nudged him to upgrade certain coins. I agreed with his decision. It was his set, his money, but he listened and learned. What could possibly be wrong with that. He also saw how "wierd" we all are, and probably won't collect anything but spendable cash in the future. What a great lesson learned.
Jay - Even if she was 23 and a Victorias secret model, you're married and 50.What do you think her father, the bounty hunter, would do to you ?????? I believe she is 16,blonde Californian and a hard body.
Hi, my name is Mike and I'm 12 and I want Stewart to adopt me and put his 1909-1958 Lincoln Registry Set (basic) in my name so I don't have to be #29 any more. I want to be #1. (It would be a great boost to my "self of steam") <- Actual phrase used by a high school junior on a questionaire!!
Thanks Stewart!!!

My daughter is only two and she has a complete set of silver Pandas in proof and unc. She did it by working hard, saving her money and having good contacts. Oops--that last part was me. She also has a little treasure chest full of loose coins that she keeps in my office. On occasion she likes to pour the coins out, arrange them by size and then throw them all over the room. Then she leaves to go play with her stuffed animals which have taken over the house and let poor old Dad pick up all the coins. Yes, I indulge the child. The really cute part is when she takes my magnifying glass and imitates me looking at coins.

My daughter picked this coin out for around $300 when she was 13 years old. She is now almost 20.
Since she was 15 she also stopped the coin hobby for boys. They have been hovering over her for too long now.
Thanks Stewart!!!
