SUPERIOR AUCTION - HOW A PSA8

How is this card a PSA8.....oh, must be a Gem MintOC

There are 3 or 4 others also...61 Mantle...all have early serial numbers so I guess that's it????

From the early days??? When men were men ???

  • must be a case of a forgotten qualifier... 75/25 is well out of the tolerance for an 8
  • Standards have changed???
    "Mistake"?
Grader had a qualifier on his/her resume??

If it was one card at a big auction....OK....but I found at least FOUR and only looked at '56-'61 cards

I'd like to be more positive but after three weeks on this site my concerns and questions have grown. eBay is one thing but a profile auction is another.

    Caveat Emptor forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I really hate being cynical and would appreciate a plausible explaination / discussion of how a major qualifier can be "missed" or "overlooked" or whatever.

I can understand ink marks which are prevalent on similar cards but centering was often the function of where card was on master sheet, rough edges the same, and so they are also indigenous characteristics of certain cards.

I've read on this site: "DSL favoritism", tougher "standards" now, "missed", and "common to card" as explainations. These sound to me like excuses for improper(rather harsh) or inconsistent grading.

    WHAT GIVES????

  • FIGURED IT OUT....

    BUY THE CARD.....SELL THE SLAB

    IT WAS SO SIMPLE.
