Will Clark Rips Raffy...

AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
...in an interview, Clark calls out Raffy and asked what he would say to Palmiero, he chuckled and said 'you got caught partner'.

Guess there was a dispute between them years ago, which led Clark to believe that Raffy isn't the nice guy that everyone seems to think he is.

I find it hillarious that Raffy's arrogance about not being caught and pointing his finger at congress and swearing he's never used steroids just reinforces my belief that karma is real.

Just say no, Raffy!

Clark and Raffy were together at Mississipi State in the early 80's. My understanding is that they have been in a competition against each other ever since then. Of course at that time and up to the early 90's Clark was the superstar and Raffy was a good player, Clark's back changed all that. Personally, I was a huge Will Clark fan from MSU on so I have never liked Raffy.

Until I hear that yesterday, I never really thought about the comparisons between Clark and Palmroido. Early on, Will Clark was by far the better player. Just imagine if Clark would have been on steroids. He probably could have had the same numbers the Palmroido had. Just a thought.

    I always liked Clark too.

But what I really want to say is: May Congress be the next entity to be visited by some bad ju-ju. Call me crazy, but I think there are more pressing national issues than Rafael Palmeiro's steroid use.

Couldn't agree more. But how dare a baseball player offend the respectfed congressmen. How dare him!!!! He must pay the ultimate price.

By the way, did we just lose a lot of troops this week in Iraq? Anyone hear about this? If so, keep me informed, because many of the news home pages have to do with steroids.

    Remember these Chuck Norris Facts

    1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
    2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday
    3. There are no such things as lesbians, just women who have not yet met Chuck Norris
  • If I remember correctly, I remember there being some bad blood because one signed on to a team that the other was holding out on. But I cant remember which way it went. Clark replaced Raffy at Texas and then Raffy and Clark flipped from Texas to Baltimore. Maybe it was Clark who was angry that Raffy signed at Texas when he was a free agent. It was something like that.

Their college team also had Bobby Thigpen who, at least at one point in time if not now, had the record for most saves in a season.

Just the way the administration wants it. We lost 14 Marines yesterday. Where is the outrage?

As has been pointed out in several other threads,
His exact words were that he "never INTENTIONALLY took steriods".
and the fact is, that is not the same as saying he never took steroids (and he knew it when he said it)

No, I think you are mistaken.

At his testimony before congress, his words were:

"Good morning, Mr. Chairman and Members of the Committee. My name is Rafael Palmeiro and I am a professional baseball player. I'll be brief in my remarks today. Let me start by telling you this:I have never used steroids. Period. I don't know how to say it any more clearly than that. Never. The reference to me in Mr. Canseco's book is absolutely false."

He started throwing out the 'intentionally' thing with his phone call press conference, trying to cover himself. I wouldn't doubt that he gets busted for perjury as well.

well, you are right. I fell for the media spin.

but technically we still can not prove that his testimony was not anything but truth. he was not actually tested until well after the congressional hearing...................so maybe he got the steroids from Jose while he was there? image

It's funny...night before last, Harold Reynolds was saying how we should wait, how we should hold judgement that it was probably a mistake that Raffy had a minor steroid in his system. Then last night, he was busy spinning, saying that we don't know the effects of these potent steroids.

My point about that is this: if steroids didn't significantly help a baseball player compete at higher levels, why would they risk their health and suspensions and public outing? If it doesn't make a difference as so many 'fans' and media types are now being prone to say, why do these athletes take em?

Haven't you heard? We're making progress. I'm sure we'll be turning the corner any day now.

Axtell(1985fan), you are reading these boards somewhere...now is your chance to say those same things you said about steroids and Palmeiro, but substitute Arod's name instead! LOL!

Then you may gain an ounce of credibility by not being a homer-hypocrite-idol loving-delusional fan, as you are with Arod.

Funny how it wasn't Bud's fault...until Arod got caught image

It will be interesting to see the HOF voting when ARoid goes up. Somehow, I don't think he'll even get the support that Barry Bonds gets. Most folks believe that Bonds was a great HOF calibre player before the steroids. I don't know if anyone believes that about ARoid. And, it isn't like he is at the top of everyone's Christmas card list. He might very well fall below the 5% on the first ballot. Gee, what a shame if that happens....
