Post a scan of your favorite Ted Williams card...

I collect rookie cards of hall of famers...since Ted's is a bit pricey (and ugly), i'll settle for this guy...

I was the underbidder on this card - I sure would have loved to have had this beauty. The pic is too large for me to load on here and I don't have a resizing program, so here's the link to the auction:
    So friggin' close!!

This is my favorite card of Ted - I bought this many years ago - price was good - and the centering wasn't an issue since overall I liked the card/color etc.

I have seen some great Teddy's so far!

That 54T is off the chart!

The 55 is my favorite and the one I have is beat to hell. It was my dad's and I got it from my Grandmother when she moved out of her house after 52 years. We were packing up the basement and there was a beat up shoe box that was water stained and I wasn't going to touch it. She said "Those are the cards of your fathers that survived the flood."

I opened that box faster than a fat kid opens a box of donuts. They may have survived the flood, but they didn't survive my dad's early years. Either way it is special to me to have a couple hundred of the cards my dad had in his youth.

I feel bad that my son will have a box of 83 and 84 Topps in almost as bad of shape waiting for him. Unless of course he gets the stuff I have been collecting in my second childhoodimage

    Here's the card

I think most of Ted's cards look great. I own a 51B PSA 7 and a 48 Leaf SGC 84. Obviously my favorites. I am really looking forward to buying a 57 Topps next, since I've owned 2 before, both PSA 4. I've also submitted my own raw yahoo purchase 56 that came back a 5.

  • I had never noticed before that Ted's "mug shot" is the same on the '54, '55 and '56.

I think there are a lot from those three sets that are the same headshot, if not most. I know Kaline for sure.

  • For some reason, I love the 1959 Fleer Willaims Set

Here are a few from current eBay auctions:

I also love the one of him signing his contract.

  • Just bought this 1948 Leaf, going to try to cross into PSA 8. It's a real beauty.

  • One has to wonder why that '48 Leaf isn't in a PSA holder already... hmmmm... GL.
  • Some say that the toning is going to keep it at a 7. We'll see though, but there's a good chance you're right.

mmoin - that's one incredible Williams card - the colors sizzle. Does it list the subgrades on the back?

I'm sorry, I would definitely take a 1940s black/white version over the 1954 or even the 1955. The yellow background (I hate yellow) has really bad eye appeal to me. I like the Wilson Franks, reminds me of the best looking card set of all time - the Allen & Ginter. I like the 51 Bowman as well.
  • throwdown....love that card. if i could afford it, i would definitely try to get one.

Always looking for 1957 Topps BB in PSA 9!
  • Mark-

    The subgrades are 7.5 (centering), 8, 8, 8.
