If I sold every card in my collection, I wonder if I could've afforded this card.

Spectacular piece of art!! Congratulations to the new owner!

This auction is a perfect example of a question I've been kicking around in my mind.

Why would any collector use auction houses like Mile High or Memory Lane for graded cards? I can see using an auction house for something specialized like a Ruth bat, historical document, or other unique items (test issues, proofs, etc).

To me I don't see what value these guys add over an ebay seller like Legacy. I'll admit that I like looking through the catalogs, however some of Drent's write-ups get a little tiresome and bush league for a supposed high end place. I'm sure that every PSA 8 "is almost a 9".

pandrews - nice card. I'm waiting for a PSA 9 Topps Four Horseman card to come up.

i thought it was Don Louchinos (forgive Sp)

Here comes the dumb question - who is he?

I don't know anything about the registry - what sets does he have and does he contribute on these boards?

The only big time card collector I know of myself is Davillilo who is trying to put together 100 sets in PSA 8 or higher.

I recently heard a rumor that Pandrews is going for 101 just to steal his thunder!

  • Mike,

To see the Louchios collection, go to the Hall of Fame tab on the home page and pop up one of the many sets he has there. Then hit the Registrants other sets tab. But be warned, you should have a towel handy to soak up the drool.

He is #1 or #2 in many key sets (Allen & Ginter, M116, T206 White Borders, 1915 Cracker Jack, '33 DeLongs, '33 and '34 Goudey, '39 and '41 Play Ball, the Berk Ross's, '52 and '58 Topps, and the DiMaggio, Gehrig, Foxx and Cobb player sets..AMONGST OTHERS).

    An incredibly astonishing collection.

yes but we are talking about Sandy Koufax...
Sorry, but I just had to!
  • I would have never paid that kind of money with that top to bottom centering. Buy the card---not the holder.

Maybe Pandrews can start advertising in Tuff Stuff as the Super Buying Maching with a briefcase full of $100,001.
