The Roosie bar has been raised a notch.

I just checked the pop report and found that a 2005-D MS70SF w/o FB was made.

I'm sure this is still a nice trophy regardless of having NO FB's!

Thats kind of odd to me that a perfect dime wouldnt have a perfect strike (thus FB).. image
  • p&nt just beat me to it.
  • I agree, a 70 should have FB.
I did see the lincoln numbers are up to 12 (70's) in p
and now there are 2 (70's) in d
    tim
LOOKING FOR 1931-s merc that is nice for the grade and fb
  • I'm sure it's a GREAT looking coin. image

As evidenced by the population report, the FB is tough for Denvers this year.

Congrats to whoever found the coin!!!

It is not always the strike that is producing the split across the bands. It is the die itself.
Sometimes the die that is used is not cut to produce the split. I have seen fully struck up
Roosies with a single thick band across the bottom without the split. A well struck coin
without the FB. This is the case with many of the varieties. MS69 mercs without FB. MS68
Jeffs without FS. MS68 standing lib quarters without the FH, and no FBL on high grade
Franklins. I don't think PCGS would put these grades out there if they didn't feel they
    were well struck.

I agree with Nick, you will find many dimes that have fantastic detail from the strike. But they will have the dreaded uniband at the bottom. Sometimes there will be a slight split but not anywhere near FB. When you see a Roosie with the rounded knob at the bottom of the torch that is complete and boldly rounded, bands or not, thats about as good a strike as you can get. No bands then is a die that has not been cut for bands. I say we storm the mint and hang um by their thumbs.
