Ichiro Breaks Another Record

AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
With his fourth-inning home run today, Ichiro broke another record that had been around for 75+ years (another being the hits record last year).

With that HR today, he has 1,058 hits in his first five years, whereas the previous mark of 1,057 stood for 7 and a half decades. And before the naysayers say 'he did it in more games!' (yes, you spammy), he accomplished the feat in a total of 737 games, where the previous record holder played 747 to get to his 1,057 hits.

He is also within reach of another batting title, raising his average 22 points this month by batting .385 in july.

No, you are wrong there. I am a big Ichiro fan and if the rules allowed it, and he never played a game again, I think he should be in the HOF. When people on this board and sports writers were criticizing his record last year as being soft, I defended him on this board and if you would like I will find those posts. On second thought you find them yourself...I don't want to waste more time on you.
