what's the market like on these these days? I've got some before stamps came out, and wondering if there's any market for them.

There are a lot of variables in the stampless covers. You might want to visit the "Richard Frajola" board and ask them. That board is predominately postal history. A lot of high power collectors visit that board. You describe it and they can tell you about it.
