    Supposedly Canadian coins tend to tone up wildly like that due to the packaging/cases they were issued in. Others could probably comment on this better than I can.

    Spoon - you are correct. Canada issued commem $'s in clamshell cases. The early ones were lined with a foam product that over time created wild colors as seen on Marty's piece above. In fact I think it's harder to find a 100% white example. In 1974 the RCM started encapsulating the coins effectively ending the rainbow era.

    The problem is the other side of the coin usually is icky. This one is blast white!

    100% original coin. The 1973s are usually more difficult to find that color. Most are spotty. I think that may be an early issue that was packaged with the foam from 1972. The 1972s have much nicer and more even color. Great coin Marty.
