  • I've got the 1978 (1960's players) and the 1979 (1950's players) sets. I've pulled all the HOF'ers and given the rest to my two year old son to play with. He wads them up and tries to feed them to the cat!

I used to buy TCMA cards back in the early 80's. I specifically remember the 1927 Yankees set and the 40's-ish Dodgers set.

For a twelve year old newbie into baseball cards and baseball history, these cards were great. They were cheap, loaded with stars, well designed, and just all around fun. I used to pretend that the '27 Ruth was a real 1927 card and I'd daydream about somebody giving it to me off the street and feeling just like a real kid from 1927 who was given a card of Babe Ruth. What fun memories.

I still have many of them, and I'm willing to bet that they are still worth what I paid for them. You won't get rich on these, by far, but they are wonderful substitutes for the real things.
