Can anyone recommend a shop in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, TN area?

I'll be heading there Aug 6-13. Hoping to find some nice raw vintage.

I was there last year. If I remember correctly, there was one on the main road in Pigeon Forge in a little strip mall, but they didnt have much vintage and wanted an arm and a leg for all their modern. In Gatlinburg, there is one close to the Smoky Mtn. Candy Factory store on the main road there, but their prices are absolutley outrageous. I was looking for a few cards to finish my 1996 Bowman Chrome set and needed a Ben Petrick RC. At the time I think they booked for about $2.50 and had been selling on ebay pretty regularly for $2-$3, but I figured I would wait and pick one up somewhere rather than pay shipping on top of everything else for the card. They had EIGHT of them put back in their 1996 Chrome boxes in the storeroom. He asked how many I wanted "One" I said, and he went and checked ebay and saw that ONE of the 20+ auctions at the time was selling for $5 and came back and told me it would be $5 + tax. Needless to say, I did not buy the card. I agree you can pretty much sell for what you want, but come on. The cards weren't even in a showcase and he wanted twice book and twice what the other 19 on ebay were selling for. I will admit that he did have some raw vintage baseball/football from the 1960's, but they had no prices on them and can be sure it would be Book+ Arm/Leg combo.

Also, since Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are the main tourist trap in the state, expect to be gouged on everything else too.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
  • Try Riverside Antique Mall located at 1442 Winfield Dunn Parkway. There is a booth in the mall for Foremans Collectibiles. They have a nice selection of mid-grade cards and some higher grade items. Also, if you are looking for a great shop in the Knoxville area, try Sports Treasures. The telephone number is 865-688-CARD. Ask for Eddie. His ebay seller id is EBark23. They have been in business for 15+ years and are very easy to deal with. Hope this helps.
