...but, not as much as the current bidder does!
Instead of this coin the imperial Reichsschatzamt planned to issue a 3 Mark commemorative coin on the 100th birthday of Bismarck.
Due to Bismarcks high popularity, the Reichsschatzamt estimated that they could sell coins at a face value of one hundred million Mark without difficulty, unlike the Prussian commemoratives Defeat of Napoleon and 25. anniversary of reign of Wilhelm II. from which only coins at a face value of nine Million Mark per coin were ordered and sold.
The looming higher appreciation of Bismarck unlike Emperor Wilhelm II. was the reason why they ditched the plan.
So the Reichsschatzamt decided to issue a coin on the 100th anniversary of affiliation of the shire Mansfeld to Prussia.
But this isn't the only German coin showing St. George and the dragon, some more are existing, just search for "Mansfeld."
Here is a Thaler from 1599, sold in an auction from Peus/Germany.
Peter Ernst I., Bruno II., Gebhard VIII. und Johann Georg IV., 1587-1601. Reichstaler 1599, Eisleben. Wappen / St. Georg zu Pferd über Drachen. Dav. 6511; Sehr schön
